What are the symptoms of anxiety?

What are the symptoms of food allergies? Having bad anxiety makes me worry TOO much?

  • I had a tight throat about 2 weeks ago and the symptom has not yet gone. So I searched for Anaphylaxis and ever since I been litteraly scared to eat anything. Searching my throat tight on google could have been the worst thing I ever did. Anaphylaxis has been on my mind non stop. I just really don't want to die suffocated. I have never been allergic to anything but just reading about Anaphylaxis and knowing you can develop an allergy any point of your life scares me. Both of my parents are healthy non allergic to anything. My whole family really. All I have is tight throat and a bit trouble swallowing( especially when I start to worry a lot) I have no other symptoms like rashes, itchyness or hives. Is my tight throat really Anxiety again? I don't have the lump in the throat feeling I have my WHOLE throat tight feeling and it really scares me. This whole month I haven't gone a day without stressing myself out. I just need a stress free day. That's all I really ask for... Can this really be Anaphylaxis or Anxiety? And does Anaphylaxis kill you if left untreated even for a day?

  • Answer:

Is your tight throat making hard to breath as well? This can definitely be MANY different things, but it sounds to me a little more like a symptom of asthma. The fact that your anxiety makes it feel tighter makes sense to this, because anxiety can impact breathing. I have both asthma and anxiety, and when I get too stressed or anxious, my asthma will become onset and my throat will become tight. However, you said it has lasted two weeks? I have never heard of that happening with anything other than an illness, especially not a food allergy. A tight throat caused by an allergy is usually accompanied by something else, and in many cases the suffocation will occur by the tongue swelling at the same time as the throat tightening. With that being said, food allergies CAN develop at any time in your life, but not to the life-threatening point overnight. It is usually a slower reaction development. So the first time you eat it, you may notice nothing, the second time you might get a bit of an upset stomach, etc. I would go to the doctor and see what they think about it, because your throat being tight like that for two weeks, without any other symptoms is a little odd. I don't think it is allergies, but I may be wrong. And it could be anxiety, but if it is worrying isn't helping much...my guess is some sort of virus, but only the doctor will know for sure!
