I think I'm allergic to dust mites? what can I do to get rid of the symptoms?
-
I have excema and asthma, every morning when I wake up I get really itchy legs and they get little red bumps on them that are itchy. Today I've been clearing out under my bed and because its a double bed its difficult to clean in the middle, so everything I've pulled out has been dusty and my eyes are swelling up and watering and very itchy, my arms are itching, I can't stop sneezing and my nose won't stop running, I'm wheezing, and my face is itchy. Is there anything I can take that will definately get rid of the symptoms or at least help? its giving me a really bad headache :( Thankyou!

I would suggest getting a referral from your GP to see an allergist. Although there are a lot of over-the-counter antihistamines out there (I am from the US so I am not 100% sure which are OTC and which are prescription in Britain), it is still the best idea to have your allergies monitored closely by an expert. The allergist can perform skin tests to determine exactly what you are allergic to so you can do your best to avoid those things (i.e. dust mites, molds, pollens, certain foods). As someone who suffers from many seasonal allergies as well as to dust mites, I find the following have/do help me: 1) Vacuuming and cleaning bed linens regularly 2) Not keeping stuffed animals on the bed 3) Using dust mite protectors on my mattress and pillows (keep an airtight seal so they don't get in and multiply) 4) Taking Cetirizine 10mg (brand name: Zyrtec) daily (do not take any drugs without an ok from your doctor) 5) From age 8 through 10, I got weekly allergy shots which helped my body build an immunity to my worst allergens, and it significantly improved my allergic reactions in general.

go to the doctors... either that or seal yourself in a vacuum sealed dust free room free of any human contact for the rest of your life.

Take some antihistamine. You can get these at chemists for next to nothing. A packet will cost about £1. It will stop some of the symptoms. Also, hoover your bed, and change it at least once a week.

Wash your face and hands. Blow your noise and then take an anti-histamine.
