Mucus dripping at the back of my throat?

How do I get rid of mucus? Should I try Mucinex?

• OK, basically mucus is dripping down my throat. Either it's going down into my lungs, causing congestion, or it's just going down my esophagus and I have to swallow it, which irritates my stomach real bad. I don't know what the cause of this is. I don't feel sick or have any symptoms besides the mucus, so I think it may be allergies. Anyways, will mucus get rid of my congestion and mucus production? I'm literally sick of swallowing this stuff. I am constantly clearing my throat and swallowing. I cannot cough anything up, it's too far in. How else can I get rid of my excessive mucus production?
