Are all Native Americans Lactose intolerant?
-
I've been doing research for whatever reason and apparently the majority of the population of the world is lactose intolerant. English and french people are between 10-15% lactose intolerant but Chinese and southeast Asians are 95%-98% intolerant! What i was even more surprised to find out is that on a study done on 37 Native Americans 100% were intolerant! I had no idea, i've only ever met one person that was Lactose intolerant that i know of. Is anyone here Native and can tell me if they are intolerant or Asians too? Also apparently African people were about 50% intolerant so if any black people can tell me if they are intolerant. Mention if you are pure native, Chinese, black etc.

Answer:
Lactose intolerance seems to run in some families. Given the close relationships in tribes, I would say a sampling of 37 individuals from the same tribe could be very misleading. Also though, you are talking about thousands of nations...there are bound to be differences from population to population. I just recently read a post here from a Native American who's tribe happens to be one of these groups. It lead to a very horrific situation when white missionaries forced cow's milk on them. I know far more than 37 Natives, and only one of them is Lactose Intolerant. The other few people I know who are, are white.

I know the prevalence is high for Natives although I don't know the stats. I just know I am for sure. Holy Jeeeezus. Me and milk do NOT agree haha. Daughter is the same way. By the way, there are relatively few "pure" Natives and Blacks in the US. There are practically NO American Blacks that do not have some European ancestry, unless they are recent immigrants from Africa. And most tribal members, in Indian Country in general, have some degree of non-Native ancestry. Only in the SW, and a few other pockets across the nation is 4/4 status common.
