Is it possible to be allergic to red peppers because of its colour?

Is it possible to be allergic to the colour in hair dye not the chemicals?

  • i have been using Schwarzkopf live! for about 7yrs now and never had a problem before ive used the reds and purples and i thought id try a change and use cosmic blue 1st time i didnt notice the allergic reaction thought it was either eczema or heat rash as it was hot. my roots started coming through and id missed some hair so i re-dyed my roots and the hair id missed and it happened again only worse it was itchy and i scratched and it got infected on my neck which is now scarred. its been 2-3 months since i dyed it but it still itches on the back of my neck and on my scalp, i wash it regulary it just doesnt seem to go away ill be glad when it fully grows out of my hair. i did use a colour stripper and pre-lightener b4 i dyed it do you think its possible i am allergic to the colour not the chemicals in the dye?

  • Answer:

Yes and no. You could be allergic to certain colors-that happens all the time. Different colors=different chemicals. Usually the issue is when the product is actually on your skin, and then shortly after until your skin heals. You can't still be having an allergic reaction at this point. The chemicals are long gone, now your hair is just stained that color. If you are still having skin issues you should go to a dermatologist. You may have a secondary infection from the initial allergic reaction.
