What to do with this allergies? do you know home remedies?

How do i know if there is something in my home that is causing allergies.?

  • My 5 yrs old son is having allergies (runny nose, puffy eyes). When we go to Doctor she always says that he has some allergies. How do i know what is causing allergies. Even after getting the blood test done if we come to know that for eg. he is allergic to dust how can i say he is having dust problem from the carpet or mattress or somewhere else. I have read everywhere on internet to avoid carpet if having allergies but while living on rent in an apartment how can we choose to go without carpets? Has anyone there faced similar problem. Please help me i am going mad to find out the solution for my kid...Thanks in advance....

dust allergies are tough since dust is everywhere the best thing to do is to vacuum every day or couple of days then dust after, since most vacuums blow some dust out.The hepa filter ones will over time too. Books collect dust too so store them in plastic totes. Stuffed animals are another place that dust likes to collect.I used to keep all my son's toys in plastic tortes, easy to keep dusted & less likely to collect dust. Pets can also be a source of problems due to their dander.Ones that go outside can collect pollen & dust on their fur, which will be brought inside. Wash curtains at least once a month since they hold a lot of dust As for the bedding..you can wash the sheets & blankets in very hot water & dry on high.Never hang them outside since pollen & dust will collect on them as they dry I found the water & dryers at a laundry mat were much hotter than the ones in most homes. It cost about the same in the long run to use them.I also use scent free laundry soap & dryer sheets. The heat will kill the dust mites, which is really what most people with dust allergies are reacting to. They make dust mite mattress & pillow protectors. Many chain stores carry them now. They help keep the dust mites out of the mattress & pillows. They do need to be washed the same way as the bedding Keep windows closed since they let in a lot of dust.Using an A/C will help.Male sure you clean the filter very week.Use white vinegar, which kills the mold & rinse well to get all the dust off.Make sure it is dry before putting back in the a/c. I am not sure how ell air purifiers really work.I have tried many over the years & none seem to do much good. Same with the hepa filter vacuum cleaners, at first they seem to work great, over time they lost their touch. My son & I have serve dust allergies ,along with many others. When I did the cleaning I'd send him to a friend's to play for a few hours. That helped him not to have as many problems,it gave the dust time to settle, that was too fine to get rid of.You'll never get completely dust free, but can keep it down to a point he's not too reactive. You can always try to talk to the landlord if you do have carpets & explain your son's allergies, they may agree to remove the carpets. It's worth a try best of luck, hope he does better soon
