What to do for chronic Hives?

I have hives, AGAIN, what do i do!?

  • alright, so yesterday I had my first volleyball clinic for 4 hours, then we had an hour break in between and I went to go eat some Baker's with a couple of my friends, then I left the volleyball clinic half an hour after the break because I had band practice. During the half hour, I noticed I had gotten some red bumps on my arm and my face was beginning to feel swollen, but I went to band anyways. In the the middle of practice, the hives were everywhere on my neck and arms. So I left. I went to the emergency room because i had them ALL over my back arms and stomach and neck. Once I got there, they told me I had an allergic reaction to something but they didn't know what and I thought it was the grass I had layed on that day. They gave me pills to take, and I took them at the hospital and by the time I got home, the hives were gone. Then the next morning I woke up, and I noticed I had the hives ALL over my legs, so I took the pills again. and about an hour or so after, the hives were gone. I had another volleyball clinic, so I went, the hives started coming out on my elbows during break again ! I was eating Baker's again during break and I didn't go anywhere on the grass today ! I had taken the pills during break, but then the hives started coming out on my elbows. So I ended up going home and by the time I got home, I noticed they weren't on my elbows anymore. But now, there's more coming out on the top of my arms, my stomach and hips and hands. what is going on!? I took the pills this afternoon at around 4, and now it is 7, and there's more coming out ! WTF. and in 6 days, I will be going to Austria, will the hives be gone by then!?

  • Answer:

Your hives could be triggered by something you are eating. I get them from certain foods. But my friend used to get them from topical substances...like sunblock. Often times it is something that you ingested though. What are you eating at bakers? Anything with avocado? Avocado or nuts in your food could have caused the reaction. Hives could also be caused by allergies to such things as foods, medications, and insect stings. Also they could be caused by allergy to laundry detergents or fabric softeners if you recently changed brands. Either way, hives are bothersome, but you can counteract their effects with an antihistemine. Be cautious if you get hives along with swellling of the throat. I had hives once after a surgery and my throat started to swell...I was going to anaphylactic shock, couldnt breathe... and had to go to the ER! It was an allergy to morphine...=( lol So once you pinpoint the problem, just try to avoid it, but a lot of times the cause of hives is never pinpointed...so good luck and watch what your eating at Bakers...

I am sorry have no idea what you are referring to as in the way of bakers. I get hives from peanuts, chocolate, salmon, raspberries, grass, weeds like dandelions, tree pollen, hay and straw, hornets, yellow jackets and a few others. I was breaking out in hives for a week and went and saw my allergist. She still has no idea what exactly triggered them. Hives are more of a pain than anything. You could be allergic to grass, pollen or "bakers"??. Not sure what this is exactly, again sorry. But you should have either blood work or skin tests done by an allergist to rule out things that could cause hives.
