Has anyone had an allergic reaction to stevia?

Man this sucks. Anyone experience an allergic reaction to a bar of soap?

  • Sorry in advance that this is so long! I think I may have had an allergic reaction to a bar of soap. Ugh! This stuff is new to me. I'm never allergic to anything except cats. Okay my mom and I had to live without running water for a long time until our well got fixed just 13 days ago. We had to sponge bathe during that time, with the occasional shower. Well, my mom got these Olay purple bars of soap that were being given away free. I'm guessing they were defected or something? idk. I used this soap for 2 weeks before our water got turned on and it did nothing to me. I used it to sponge bathe and wash my hands. When our water got turned on, I used this soap 3 times in the shower. 1st two times, I noticed slight burning but went away. I thought maybe I was taking too hot a shower or if my body wasn't used to taking showers instead of sponge bathing haha. The third time my skin felt SO freakin' dry and itchy! Omg. It didn't feel right. I don't remember if it was puffy or not. I didn't notice haha. The next 2 days I washed my face with this damn soap and it made my face burn like a MOTHER, and got all puffy and red both times. It would stay like this only for a little, then would slowly go away. I stopped using this soap immediately. There wasn't a corner of my body that purple soap didn't touch haha! The past few days after that damn shower, my entire body has been kinda feeling like how it did when my skin was healing from hives 6 months ago, but not to that extent. I got full body hives from a 1st time allergic reaction to laundry detergent 6 months ago (I think it was laundry detergent that was being given away free or was defected, ha!). After I got treated for those hives, my skin felt SOOO weird after that. For the first few days it felt like a bad sunburn. Also felt slightly puffy like I was retaining water or something. And my skin looked shiny as well. This all slowly went away in 1 1/2 weeks. That scared me though because I didn't know what was happening to my skin! I'm guessing that was just my skin healing? I don't know much about this. Anyway, right now my skin still has that slight puffy/retaining water feeling going on and it's shiny. The sunburn feeling went away a couple days ago. I'm not having any pain/redness at all and feel just fine (just wanted to throw that in there lol). Is this normal for my skin to do? Is this all part of the healing process? I'm lagging it on the showers right now cause I showered 2 days ago with lukewarm water and a different body wash and it just felt like it was too harsh for my skin right now. I want it to heal more. So has anyone experienced this? Any answers are appreciated! Thanks.

  • Answer:

I'm not really educated in chemistry or anything right now. Anyway, I would suggest you get a different brand of soap because you could be allergic to a chemical in the soap. If you get the same with a different kind of soap I would suggest you get an allergy test to see what chemical you're allergic to, then you can buy soaps which doesn't have that specific chemical.

No, I haven't had this experience. If you can't use bar soaps, you're going to have to use liquid soap or bodywash.
