How to get rid of a swollen lip fast?

Why is my lip swollen an how to get rid of it?

  • I have been prescribed amoxicillin to clear up an infection and I started taking it yesterday with no side effects at all. It was my sisters bday today so I called the doctor and asked if I'm allowed to have afew drinks on this antibiotic and he said it is allowed with amoxicillin but you shouldn't drink at all with any medication but I went along and drank because I knew I was only having afew.. I have a cheeky vimto (port and blue WKD) and 20 minutes after my lip got itchy and on both sides top and bottom they started to swell up, the right side has gone down and all of the bottom has but the top left side is really swollen it looks like a collagen injection on one half of my lip. Is this a reaction to the drink as I was fine until I had that, or is it the amoxicillin? And how can I get rid? Will the swelling go down after I have taken 2 antihistamin? I have also had 2 ibuprofen not long before drinking to reduce the swelling from my root canal infection which seems to have all gone down

  • Answer:

it could be a combination of the amoxicillin, the sulfur in the wine & the Dye in the other drink. It's hard to really say..since people can react that way to all 3 things antihistamines will help take the swelling down make sure you keep an eye on things,if the swelling returns with just the amoxicillin call your dr & let them know. They may have to change your antibiotic.
