Dry Eyes contacts problem?

Irritation due to contacts caused by allergies or what?

  • since about september 2006 my eyes have been having alot of problems. i switched contacts in august(to acuvue oasys), so when i went back to my eye doctor he switched me out of them to a new brand, and gave me eyes drops to put in for week before i tried to the new contacts. the same problem continued, and he switched me back to my original contacts that i have had for 2 twos prior to the new pairs. everything was gonig good for about a month and then the irritation came back. my eye doctor put me on a stronger eye daily eyedrop, but even that does work. my eyes get red/pink rings around where the color part of my eye meets the white part. right now i'm just switching between glasses and contacts depedning on how my eyes feel. i'm not sure what to do next, if anything. oh and i've been using the same solution for about 3 years. sorry for the length, but i wanted to describe it the best i could. thanks for any replies.

you should get your prescription rechecked, they might not fit like they are supposed to. it happens, even if you have gone to him for a long time

One thing to consider... you may be allergic to the preservatives in the eye care solution and eye drops. You may wish to speak with the opthalmologist about this, as he/she can provide you with a preservative-free kit. It will be more time-consuming, but this may solve your problem.
