What products do you use to combat your allergies?
-
I have the worst allergies, all year round I am combating sneezing, itchy eyes, throat irritation and congestion. It's too the point now where I can't sleep throughout the night without waking up. Either my nose it running or I am congested and I can't breathe. The allergies also cause my asthma to flair up, this upcoming summer seems like it's going to be the worst as I am already suffering. It seems like no matter what I do I just can't go a day without incident. So, I would like to know if anyone has any suggestions. I usually take Zyrtec which works fairly decent, it doesn't work as well as it did when I first started to use it a few years ago. However, I haven't purchased it recently because it is a little more expensive than it use to be when I got it by prescription and now it's sold in stores. I purchased an off brand, which doesn't do much, so I am going to go back to using Zyrtec. I did try claritan once before and my system laughed at the product, it did nothing. Today I bought some breathe right strips which I am going to try tonight for the first time. So, does anyone have any suggestions, products that you've tried before ,or home remedies, I would appreciate it.

I feel for ya! I can tell by my hubby and son this year is going to be a nightmare! My boys sound similar to your symptoms, and just as you say zertech seemed to do well in the beginning but now not so much. We have 2 air purifiers in our home. We are surrounded by pine trees and the purifiers seem to keep the pollen at bey inside our home. The breath rights work pretty well too. They do come in children's size if you have a smaller nose as the adult size is a little large. You should also try a saline nasal rinse when you are not stuffed up, these work great at removing dirt and allergens from your nasal cavity. When it is windy you should wear a mask outdoors, you might look crazy but at least you won't suffer later. One more thing you can try is to have your air ducts cleaned at home. Good luck and I hope you get some relief soon :) PS. The saline rinse I mentioned is called a neti pot and it is more effective than a nasal spray. Ask a pharmacist about it.

Old-school Sudafed used to be my go-to for allergy flare-ups and colds, but they've changed their ingredients and I'm not sure it's still as good. My father swears by Nyquil, if you can stand the taste and drowsiness. (The jury is out on Dayquil.) What really cured my allergies, though, was seven years of allergy shots. It may take a while and a lot of needles, but it's completely worth it. I went from nearly hacking up a lung from being in the same room as the class pet rat in elementary school to becoming a vet tech who can work with them all day and come home to my own animals with nary a sniffle. Good luck!

Ahah, my dad tried this thing called acupressure. You should try it! It's basically this thing where you target points on your body that will lead to other points and you press on them (you won't bleed at all!) and if it hurts, then it means you've got a problem with the part of the body it's leading to. For example, the area below the thumb on the left hand could lead to your neck (Most likely not true, but just an example). So, then you would keep pressing on that area below your thumb and it helps with your neck. :) My dad had really bad allergies, dude you don't know. But, he would do this for 3 minutes for each time he would do it (3 times a day) and voila! He barely sneezes and has no allergies! :D I'm not joking, it actually works! :D Aha, my dad sells these acupressure things, so I would know. xD
