Are these common reactions to a bee sting?

Insect Sting and allergic reaction?

  • I got stung today. I'm not sure what stung me because it attacked me then I screamed and ran inside and honestly just didn't get a good look. I believe it to be a wasp or hornet though but I guess it could have been a bee. I have never had bad reactions to stings but it started just as a small welp around the sting which is a red dot. Now it is about 2-3 inches in diameter. It is a little itchy and a little sore but no other symptoms. Am I having a mild allergic reaction? I plan on taking an antihistamine before I go to bed. Also, given that description, would anyone have any idea what stung me. It has been a very long time since I was stung by something. THank you

  • Answer:

No idea what stung you, but I can tell you with instect sting allergies, the reactions get worse each time. So perhaps you've always been allergic and the reaction is now strong enough for you to notice? If this is the case, I'd mention it to the Dr, as next time (& each subsequent time) you're stung will get progressively worse and you'll prob need to carry an Epi-Pen.
