How can i get rid of red eyes?

My eyes are blood shot red and have swelling in them how do I get rid of it?

  • I slept at my brothers apt on the couch and I think dog hair irritated my eyes I left my contacts in my eye but it never made such a nasty swollen red eye before now so I have been wearing shades like a blind person so ppl dont get freaked out by my eyes. I can barely type this now please help!!!!! I tried putting warm cloths on it and it didnt help This is the second day its doin this and i dont have any glasses to wear I just leave my contacts off and I am legally blind in my left eye so its imperative this get fixed asap!!!! I am getting some drops to get rid of redness soon from the store.

    When I have an eye infection, I use tea bags. Heat water and place a tea bag in it, like you're making tea. Then place the bag on your eye until the bag starts to cool. (If the bag is too hot at first, you can let it sit a minute before placing it on your eye.) Chances are you may have developed an allergy. It used to be common belief that if you didnt have allergys as a child you didnt have them but people can develop them as they get older. It may just be something in your eye but the runny nose makes me suspect allergy. Buy an over the counter allergy medicine for dry, itchy eyes and runny nose. I'll bet it stops it.

You need to hurry up and get the drops, but in the meantime you can take an antihistamine too. Be careful leaving contacts in overnight - you can cause a serious eye infection that can lead to blindness if untreated. If it doesn't improve with antihistamines and eye drops, you need to see a doctor.
