Could I be allergic to milk?

If someone is allergic to raw (uncooked) milk products, would they also be allergic to milk chocolate?

  • My 1-year-old son son is allergic to raw milk (milk, cheese, ice cream, skim milk powder, etc.). However, if the milk has been baked then there's no problem. For example, there is skim milk powder in bread but because it's cooked he does not have any reaction. So, my question is, would he be allergic to milk chocolate? I guess maybe my question should be how is milk chocolate prepared... Is the 'milk' still in a raw state? It doesn't seem likely since I guess if it were then the chocolate would go sour right? Any input appreciated. Thanks.

  • Answer:

I think it is the amount of milk in bread and not the fact it is cooked. I would ask a doctor, not here on yahoo answers. Baby's health is much too important to trust such advice to this source. May try Web MD for an answer..

must concur with the others who say to consult a doctor. you don't want to experiment on your child. saying that, if you want your son to learn to enjoy REAL chocolate, forget about the milk crud and let him sample dark chocolate. it contains no milk, less sugar then milk chocolate (a good thing itself), vanilla and soya or something else to be an emulsifier. read those ingredients to be sure. oh, keep away from white chocolate. even the best will contain milk and loads of fat.
