Do I have a delayed allergy to a bee sting?
-
I got stung by a bee between my toes 1 week ago. (This was my FIRST bee sting ever.) The pain lasted < 24 hrs & then I didn't know I had even been stung. Well, yesterday (6 days after the bee sting), the area where I got stung started to itch INTENSELY! There are no other symptoms of a serious allergy (breathing difficulties, rash, vomiting, etc). Since I'm having this itching reaction now, am I more likely to have a serious allergic reaction the next time I get stung? Has anyone else ever had a similar experience? Thanks!

Answer:
I had a horrible experience with a bee sting once. I'm not allergic to bees but the bee was a bumble and was able to get a lot of poison in me but this is what it did to me: It itched a bit at first after the sting. Then I was fine. About 6 hours later it hurt like h@ll. I had horrible throbbing pain and it itched like mad but hurt to touch. 24 hours later I puked. Then I was fine. If you have an aloe plant break off a piece of it and put it on the sting. It will soothe it. My friend says a potatoe chunk works also, but that sounds gross. Or go to the store and get some bee sting ointment. Good luck! I hope you don't puke like I did!

If you were allergic, you would have had severe symptoms right away, not a week later.

Its best to phone your doctor and follow their advice,

i'm seriously allergic to insect bites. i usually use vinegar or fresh limes to bring the swelling down. what you went through is normal (for where u got stung). based on how much swelling, if any, took place, you could asertain if you are seriously allergic. it's natural for the spot to swell a little bit but if it swole to a considerable size before the itching started, there is a very good chance that you are seriously allergic and the reaction may be worst based on where you got stung. To bee on the safe side check your parents or a doctor. i believe the doc should be able to run some test to see if your're allergic.
