Am I allergic to corn?

Is it possible to just be allergic to just "unprocessed" corn?

  • Any time I eat corn on the cob, canned corn or cream of corn I get insane stomach issues almost immediately. However, food items with more processed versions of corn such as corn chips, tortillas or the corn sugars do not bother me at all. Is it possible to just be allergic to more whole forms of corn?

  • Answer:

Yes, it's not uncommon for people to be allergic to food in one form and not another. However, it's a good idea not to load up on corn chips, corn sugar, etc., because you can build up an allergy to corn in those forms as well. Easy does it.

more proccessed forms of corn makes the corn protein break down more so you would be less apt to be allergic to it. i was allergic to eggs but if they were hard boiled or in proccessed food i was ok eating them
