Why does my nose randomly bleed?

The weirdest nose bleed...why?

  • Okay maybe not the weirdest- but somewhat strange. At first it started bleeding fast but slowed as i applied pressure. I listened to what my brother told me, which was to keep your head down a little, not up because it makes you want to throw up, and to hold a few pieces of tissue to your nose. To press on the boney bottom part of the nose by the hole things ( o_o lol ). He said to hold it then blow sort of hard and it will clot and stop bleeding faster. WELL THIS IS WHERE IT GETS WEIRD.... when i did blow, some tiny bit of blood came out of the corner of my right eye. My vision in that eye was blurry for about two and a half second. Then i took a tissue and wiped around it and when i opened my eye the blood was simply gone. Why is it that it did that? Was it because of the pressure? It wasn't as bad as any of the nosebleeds i have had before, it stopped after about four or five minutes of holding a tissue to my nose and pinching my nose. My eye wasnt bleeding though...there was just blood. Anyhow, it wasn't a lot of blood either. It didn't hurt my eye, it did not sting. Is that okay? Was it because of the pressure when i blew and stuff? And another thing. Is it normal to bleed just out of one side of your nose? Lately it has been just the right side. If anyone can help me answering all three questions i will give five stars =D

  • Answer:

it was probably a very weird experience, but i wouldnt worry about it. there are little tubes that run from the inner corner of your eyes to your nose, which is why your nose runs when you cry- there is lots of drainage of tears from your eye to your nose. Sometimes, if your nose is really plugged and you try to blow it, it can send air up the tube and out your eye (in this case it was blood from your bloody nose). And yes, it is fine to only bleed out of one nostril.

Above people explained rely good but i want to add something. There are some people in the World Records books that squirt milk or water from their eyes. They do that in the same way as you did. Re-plan your future career and get into an world records book!

I don't think that the blood coming out of your eye is that unusual. Look at videos of people who suck milk or water up their nose and squirt it out of their eye. I think it has something to do with how those people did that. And I am pretty sure it is normal to bleed out of just one side. Have you been picking your nose lately? :) And if you don't, and you are REALLY worried, just go to the doctor. But it is probably not serious, so don't worry.
