Do I have a slight latex allergy?

Do i have a latex allergy? help!?

  • I want to have sex with my boyfriend (im 18) and i want to make sure i use a condom. However, i think i might have some sort of latex allergy. The last time i wore a band-aid, it left a red mark on my skin for weeks. Also this one time my friend snapped me with a rubber band and my skin from where the rubber band inflated. Should i try and have sex with a latex condom? Is this an allergic reaction? Nothing happens with like balloons and those are latex.. I dont think getting tested for a latex allergy is an option. Need your advice!!

  • Answer:

Allergic reactions to band-aids is quite common, it's the glue that causes the allergy not the plastic material that they are made from - they are not latex. Try using a band-aid again and see if the reaction is the same and if it is, use a paper based tape and remember if you are allergic, to tell your Doctor and certainly if you have surgery for anything, even some thing minor as the anaesthetic line is attached with a similar material to band-aids. Think about when you wear rubber gloves, is there a reaction then? Snapping the skin with a rubber band will always cause a mark and irritation. Good luck
