Am I allergic to pineapple?

My daughter is allergic to pineapple now her lip is messed up from eating it what should I do?

  • My 1 year old ate a piece of pineapple on New Years eve and 15 min later her tongue and lip were bleeding and swelling up. I took her to the ER and I was told that she has an allergic reaction to it and she should not eat anymore and she would need to have an allergy test which is scheduled for later on this week. Today however I noticed that the bottom of her lip is dark where it had swollen up at and it looks like her lip is scarred from the pineapple accident. She is only one and I do not want her lip to look like this forever is there anything I can do to change her lip back to the same color? This is really freaking me out here and I still have a few days before the doctor can see her. Thanks

    It's likely an ecchymosis or bruise which can occur do to inflammation causing the surrounding blood vessels to die from lack of oxygen and nutrients. It should heal in a couple of days depending on how severe it is :)

That dark coloration is called a bruse. It's the blood cell's trapped in the lip when it swelled. In a week it will be reabsorbed back into the body
