How can I cure a swollen throat instantly ?

  • For the past 3 days my throat has been feeling really swollen and I dont even have a bad cough. It's gotten so bad I can't even swallow water because it hurts so bad I can't taste anything or swallow I really need to cure it soon before it gets worse any remedies or suggestions please and thank you all for your time

    Been there. I have no idea how to cure it instantly, but here are some things I've tried with some temporary success: -Gargling warm salt water, however unpleasant it is. With this I also had to do it several times before I noticed much of a difference, and it didn't last terribly long, but it worked long enough for me to swallow some dayquil, which can also help some(after a few failed attempts since the swelling was still there...) -Sucking on an ice cube, but make sure either you're holding it or it's small enough that it won't hurt too bad if you swallow it. Maybe running cold water down your throat would work? -Vapor. I was steaming my face (for acne) and I noticed that my sore throat went away. I think using a vaporizer works, but apparently so does holding your face over a bowl of steaming hot water. It also helps with congestion so that's a plus. -Cough drops. Although I hate cough drops. I hate how they taste, I can't stand to suck on them for very long. So little relief for such a short time for all that, I prefer the other ones but cough drops are good if you're going out. You can always spit them out too. I also like to drink green tea with lemon and honey while I'm sick. It doesn't always make you feel better immediately, but it definitely makes you feel better at some point, I think it might even help you get better faster. I'm pretty sure you can also drink green tea alone or water (maybe warm water?) with lemon and honey and notice almost equal results. But I prefer them together. So good. And I don't even like green tea usually. I definitely recommend this along with some of the more immediate ones. I also agree that you should go to the doctor if you haven't. I guess I kinda assumed it was a virus and they couldn't do much. But yes, go get tested for an infection, especially strep or tonsillitis. Possibly mono. Your doctor will know what to test for. You can still use these while you recover.

White spots in the back of the throat and swollen lymph nodes (on the side of your throat) are a sure giveaway of infection. You need to go to a doctor for prescription antibiotics, penicillin or amoxicillin. It could be tonsillitis or, if you develop a fever, strep, and needs to be treated before you have too much more trouble breathing. Once you get the meds into your system, you'll feel significantly less pain within about 36 hours and it should be completely painfree within 2 days, but keep taking the antibiotics UNTIL THEY ARE ALL GONE, otherwise you could have a flare of the infection that will be resistant to the antibiotics you started. Also, orange juice is like the nectar of the gods when you're sick. You need as many vitamins as you can get. Feel better!
