Am I allergic to cigarette smoke?

Is this an allergic reaction to cigarette smoke or am I just sick?

  • Okay, so I went to Connecticut last weekend to visit my aunts, uncles, cousins. Well, I was staying at one of my aunts' and uncles' house, and they smoke a lot. Like, a lot, a lot...about every 10 minutes between the both of them I'd say. But, I usually only get nauseous when I smell cigarette smoke. Today, my throat closed up and I had a fever when I smelled it. Is this an allergic reaction to it? Or am I sick? If it is an allergic reaction, can I take some kind of allergy pill? Also, my parents or my brother don't smoke. Please help! Thanks!

  • Answer:

I would stay away from smoke from now on! If you are with them anymore, I would ask them to please not smoke around you. I believe that it is because my granddaddy smoked, too, before he passed, and one time I got a sore throat from it. Also, my neighbor's bonfire the other day triggered seasonal allergies along with a burning throat due to it. I say this is an allergic reaction, and you should go to the doctor to get some prescription-strength medication but Zyrtec is a seasonal allergy medication that may help. A visit to the doctor's office should help immensely versus just estimating over the counter products. But, if you feel that Zyrtec for seasonal allergies might help, try it!
