Could I be allergic to milk?

My 15 month just got results back saying she's allergic to cow's milk and soy. She loves milk. how this true?

  • My daughter just had an ImmunoCAP test done because I thought she had allergies to tomatoes and maybe to something else as well. It turns out she does not have allergies to tomatoes, but to cow's milk and soy! (and peanuts). I am very surprised by this because my daughter has had breast milk, enfamil gentlease, and now, since 12 months, whole milk. She loves milk. Milk is still her main source of food, and table food is just for snacking. ( I'm still trying to get her to take more table food). How can she be allergic to cow's milk and not show any symptoms? Only just recently, and three diff. times, have I noticed a full body rash after eating table food. I'm tempted to still give her milk even though her doc recommends not giving her any dairy for two whole weeks and then slowly introducing soy milk. My girl will not can not go without her milk!

    Wait, just a minute! In first statement you say she is allergic to cows milk and soy!!! Taking her milk away from her for 2 weeks and introducing SOY milk seems to be a contradiction!!! Why not try something natural like Goats Milk! rather than the unnatural Soy milk if she is allergic to soy also! My next door neighbor was allergic to cows milk so his mother had a couple of goats. She used to send some home with my son when he went over to play. Both boys still prefer to have Goats milk! They are both feeding goats milk to their children, none of which have ever had cows milk.

If you are doubting the results of the test then get it done again, If not you need to follow orders and keep her away from milk, as the mommy its your responsiblity to do what is medically best and even if you have noticed a rash after table food it dosen't mean that shes not allergic its that milk takes a long time to digest and it just came up later.

When a person is allergic to something, everytime it is given the body can have a stronger reaction.Her tongue may swell and her breathing may be affected! do not give her what she is allergic to.You said she allergic to cows milk and soy? then the doc wouldn't have told you to give her soy milk.Ask your Doctor if she Can have goats milk or what other alternatives there are. Why is a 15 month old child eating table scraps? Please ask your Doctor to have his/her nurse sit down with you and compose a nutrition list for your child,and report any symptoms.The 2 week thing is because it gives you time in between changes to report any reaction.good luck

It's probably the lactose that she's allergic to. Just because you're allergic to something doesn't mean that you'll get a rash. I'm lactose intolerant and I get bad stomach cramps and diarrhea if I eat too much dairy. Try her on a lactose free milk. It worked wonders with me.

Try switching to Goat Milk...really! It's much easier to digest and far less allergic! My sister used goat milk when she was little...allergies to cows milk and formula...she did great!

Sometimes doctors make mistakes, but I’d be willing to make a wager that parents make medical mistakes a little more often. I know it’s gonna be hard to get your daughter to stop drinking milk, but if that’s what the doc suggests, I’d say go with it. Allergists go through years of training to be able to tell you what your daughter is allergic to, and make recommendations for reducing her symptoms. If you really want what’s best for your daughter, I’d say you wean her off of milk. Did the doctor simultaneously say that she’s allergic to soy, and then tell you to give her soymilk? That sounds a little odd in itself. Maybe the first thing you should do is call the doctor’s office to find out exactly what the directions are. Then, if you hear the same thing (allergic to soy, but give her soymilk anyway), you might want to get a second opnion.
