Can I take Clindamycin for Bronchitis?

If I'm allergic to cephalexin can I take clindamycin ?

  • I went to see my rheumatologist and asked him about taking antibiotics because I had an allergic reaction to cephalexin, so he said he wouldnt recommend me taking antibiotics ending in "IN". Now I went to the ER because of an abscess and the doctor prescribed clindamycin and I don't know if I should take it or not. I need help

Your doctor is crazy. Clindamycin is a lincosamide antibiotic,while cephalexin is a cephalosprorin - they are NOT related. I am also allergic to cephalexin and penicillin as well,but I can take erythromycin, which ends in "in." Ask your pharmacist or look it up. Many drugs end in "in." Aspirin ends in it!
