Is it possible to be allergic to Nickel?

I'm allergic to nickel am I allergic to tattoos ?

  • I've heard some people are allergic to the chromium and cobalt if they are allergic to nickel and I want to get a breast cancer ribbon tattoo and i heard most people react to the reds and pinks. How often is it that people react if they have a nickel allergy and is there any tests to know if you will react?

  • Answer:

I did a lot of reading on this not too long ago because I developed allergies. Apparently, tattoo ink does not have a set standard, what I mean is they all have different ingredients and use different carriers (what the pigments are suspended in). A few are usually the same. For instance, black is usually carbon. Lots of other color pigments can come from several sources. You can go to the tattoo shop you plan on getting a tattoo and ask for the MSDS sheets for the color ink you want. Tell them you are worried about your allergies. When I went, they were very understanding. I have three tattoos done in blue, white, yellow, red, and green. I am also allergic to nickel and did not have any problems. Make sure to check it out, though. You don't want to have an allergic reaction to the ink. Have you googled those pics? EEk!
