Peanut Allergies: How to Induce vomiting?

  • We recently discovered that our daughter is allergic to peanuts. Doctors orders were to stay away from all types of peanuts or anything containing peanuts such as peanut oil, etc. The doctor also told us that if she accidentally ate something with peanuts, to induce vomiting and go to the er. But we didnt ask how to induce vomiting! I called but the office is closed till Monday, I'd just like to know in case of emergency!

    call the allergist and make another appointment. you need to make sure that you understand everything about peanut allergy. do NOT induce vomiting if you suspect she has ingested an allergen!! give her the proper dose of Benedryl, keep the Epi-pen handy, and be sure that your CPR certification is up to date. ask the doctor if there is an allergy support group for parents in your area. look up information at FAAN online. learn to read labels, ask lots of questions, and educate all of those who come into contact with your child.

Theres this stuff called epicac for that. You can find it in drug stores.

Yes. Epicac is a solution that will induce heavy vomiting. You should look into getting a Epinephrine injector, most prescribed is the brand EpiPen. It will stop Anaphylactic shock in the even that vomiting can not be induced. You may want to get one to give to your child's school nurse. Also, you should be referred to an allergist so that proper tests can be run to see what other items she is allergic to.

Wait till Monday and in the mean time do not eat outside the family home and watch everything she eats. It is possible to get an Epipen which is an injection to use in case of accidental ingestion of peanuts. www.epipen.com will let you know all details. It would be very good to have on standby if you could not get to doc or er. Otherwise the finger down the throat would do, but use a clean plastic glove so you dont damage her throat. Good luck.

Hydrogen peroxide at about 2 TBLS. But she has ingested the allergen the best thing to do is have a dose of Benadryl handy and take to the ER if your doctor's office is closed. You know she has an allergy but on any exposure that can be the one the creates the biggest reaction from the body and can prove fatal. Even if you do induce vomiting you would have no idea if there is some of the peanut product that was absorbed in her system or still in her stomach. If you haven't got one prescribed yet, now is a good time to have an epi-pen prescribed. Good luck until monday and read those labels!

Does she have an epi pen? She should. Honestly, my Dr. said not to induce if I injested anything. I wonder why you do with her? I was told to carry my epi-pen, and to take 2 benadryls and head to the E.R. Epi pens aren't to be used immeditly(unless the allergy is REALLY severe) but as a nice comfert zone. I feel good knowing I have it, just in case. My advice is to get her an allergist if you havent already!

stick your finger down her throat . it isn't fun but it's fast and effective
