How can you tell if a baby/infant is allergic to something?
-
I am a Nanny and I would like to know how to tell the difference between allergic reactions and just random skin rashes. Thank you.

Answer:
Firstly, you should try asking the parents if you child has any known allergies. If that doesn't work, you can usually tell. If it is an allergic reaction, the child will be really itchy and restless. If not, the rash can be stopped by putting some ice on it. If you are unsure just put some ice or cold washes on them. If it is a bad reaction, i.e mild-high anaphylaxis, they will be unsettled, have trouble breathing, be faint, floppy, tired, swollen throat, etc. Best thing to do is to take them to hospital if this is the case. Best thing to do is to ask the parents if they have any known allergies and most will tell you. Hope this helps :)
