How to stop watery eyes fast?

How do I stop my eyes from watering?

  • I have either a cold or allergies ( I am not sure which one ) and my eyes have been more watery and little sore lately. They get very watery when I sleep and I woke up a few times tonight ( right now its 4:36 am ). I found my eyes to get not as watery when I am awake. Other symptoms I have are sneezing, a runny nose, a sore throat ( its almost gone though ) and a headache. Is there nay way I can make them stop watering and do I have allergies or a cold? Thanks

So, my optician at Sears told me this. The eye depends on the flow of tears to provide constant moisture and lubrication to maintain vision and comfort. Tears are a combination of water, oils, and mucus, for even spreading and antibodies and proteins, for resistance to infection. All this stuff is secreted by special glands located around the eye. Step 1 Another nice looking eye....But....Sometimes a person with dry eyes will have a ton of tears running down their cheeks...meaning, the eye is not getting enough lubrication. So, the eye compensates by sending a distress signal for more lubrication. Once the nervous system gets the message, the eye is flooded with tears to match Niagara Falls. But it's mostly just water - no lubricants like normal tears. Step 2 This is what it looks likeAfter getting all this "medical information and big words: from my optician at Sears, You might just as well slap another Forest Gump "stupid" sticker on my forehead. It's like this. Until this past summer, I officiated soccer and girls fast-pitch softball in the county. For years, I've had to carry a pocketfull of tissue to continually wipe my eyes. Step 3 Sometimes, it got so bad I would have to call time-out to clean my glasses and stop the flow of water. Anyway, six months ago, since I needed to update my driving glasses, I told the Optician about my problem. How could my eyes be dry when they were being flooded on a daily basis? Here's the answer. And, if you have a similar problem, no need to pay $100 bucks to solve your problem - do what he told me to do. Step 4 There are three kinds of lubricants for dry eyes: mild, moderate and severe. The severe and moderate products are called: GenTeal and made by a company called Novartis. The other name is AlCon. This stuff isn't cheap, but they do have sales once in a while, and you get TWO dispensers in one box. Any drug store carries the products.
