Allergies or Sinus infection..?
-
So I've been having headaches for the past month and a half.. almost everyday. I've gone to the doctor 3 times now. 1st time I went I was told it was a caffeine headache then a weeks after that visit I went to see my mom and she told me that it was a sinus infection because I had the sore throat was sneezing had a runny nose and it was green. So (my mom being a nurse) I went back to the doctor and told them that and he put me on a 5 day antibiotic which during those 5 days it was really bad to the point where I had thrown up about 2 minutes after taking one of the pills. So I went back to the doctor about last week and he told me it wasn't a sinus infection and said it could be allergies because when I was at my grandmothers for a couple days she had given me generic brand of Claritin and I had felt much better so my doctor prescribed me a nasal spray which I had been on a few years ago for headaches which I honestly don't remember if it had worked or not. My headaches haven't been as bad since I've been taking the nasal spray and Advil Pm every night but tonight it was really bad. My doctor told me to try the nasal spray for a couple weeks and see how it goes. & The feeling is like something just squishing the right side of my head and it hurts really bad if I get up fast.. I know Yahoo Answers isn't a doctor or can diagnose me but I'm just wondering if there's anyone who has had this problem.. because I'm really scared that I might have a tumor or something. and also would it be good for me to go to the hospital and get a CT scan to see what it is?

I wonder if it is your GLANDS? I mean 'over active glands' OR a THYROID thing? My mom has that. It makes her throat hurt and she feels sick and dizzzzzzzzzzy all the time I too HATE nasal sprays......you never know, your body could be having an allergic reaction to THAT ugh I also wonder if the antibiotics aren't for you, the TYPE I mean....... I don't think you have a tumor, sounds like a VIRUS, if anything Get a scan. Better to research it NOW, then have it get worse I feel for you:( Check out THYROID SYMPTOMS here: (from WEB MD...awesome site!) http://women.webmd.com/guide/understanding-thyroid-problems-basics

Many things can be causing your symptoms - you need to be properly evaluated. It may be allergies, in which case an antihistamine and steroid nasal spray may work.... however if it is long standing chronic sinus infection you may require a prolonged (2-3 week) course of antibiotics. You may want to ask your dr if it is appropriate to do a CT scan to rule out chronic sinusitis or if this could be something like a dental abscess that requires special treatment.
