What does allergy medication work the best?

Does Allergy Medication Work/Will It Help Me?

  • Alright, here's the deal. Every year, for as long as I can really remember, definitely the last few years. I consistently have a stuffed nose and feel congested. I'm so used to it that I hardly even breathe through my nose and when I eat food it feels like i'm coming up from under water between bites. I'm not really sure what the deal is, I think it feels like my nose passageways are narrow, is this possible? My nose isn't small though, and neither are my nostrils, they both seem to be normal size. Would allergy medicine be what would help me? If so, would I have to take it all year round or those of you with allergies how do they work? I do notice that my nose is less congested in the summer, though it is still stuffed, just not as much int he winter, all though that could be due to the cold/runniness Anyways, hope someone can help me, thanks!

  • Answer:

I'd go see a doctor about it, but if you get itchy eyes, sneezing, and the symptoms are seasonal, it's quite likely that it might be due to hayfever. Provided you have no medication allergies, antihistamines might help, or nasal decongestants (although you shouldn't use these long term - just on bad days etc). If you don't want to see a doctor about it, it is probably worth having a chat to a pharmacist - there's a lot of allergy medications on the market, and they are quite effective for most people.
