Do latex gloves cause hand allergic reaction?

Is it an allergic reaction?

  • im kind of allergic to latex a my dad and step mom didnt know and bought latex gloves to handle medication for my dog. i told them i was and i stayed away when they used it. im not sure if i came in contact with it but my left hand pinky started to feel like it was burning and was all red then it spread to the top of my palm it is now red and burning, i put cream on it but i dont know if it will help. is it from latex or something else. and what can i do?

It's a skin reaction. As long as your tongue isn't swelling and your throat isn't closing up, you should be fine. You didn't say what you put on it, but some calamine or benadryl cream or some benadryl should help it. If the hand puffs up, then you need to see a doctor as it is possibly cellulitis, and that requires medical attention and possible meds. You also need to have everything wiped down in the house. Get some non-latex gloves, wipe everything down, throw away the trash bag....put on another pair of gloves and put the used gloves in the old trash when taking that trashbag out. And I mean get that bag out of the house. If the allergy changes and becomes anaphylactic, you could be in huge trouble, so take care of getting rid of those gloves before that happens!
