Best medications for really bad allergies.

Why do my Severe Allergies get better when I take Medications for other problems?

  • 10 yrs ago, I developed Asthma, High Blood Pressure, Anxiety, Depression and Severe Allergies, with Chronic Sinus Infections. The Allergist told me to look out his window when I asked him what I was allergic to, he said "Everything you see out there"! Doctors have prescribed every type of pill and inhalers to help, but only a Kenalog shot works, it lasts 30 days and the Doctor will only give me one at 90 day intervals. So its 30 days of BLISS and 60 days of MADNESS. My question is: I take Adderal and Klonapin (for anxiety and ADHD, & blood pressure meds) during those 60 days and it makes my allergies subside enough that I can go outside. Meaning they work BETTER than the allergy meds, but not as well as the KENALOG yet they are NOT for allergies. WHY do NON-Allergy meds do about as well as 1 shot of Kenalog? I cant understand this. IT IS A "QUALITY OF LIFE" ISSUE (as my family says). This seems like the only way I can have it and I am tired of juggling meds. I do not think its healthy. Also I live in a small town with limited Doctors so it is impossible to Doctor shop. Thank you for your answer.

Most meds have preparations combined into them antihistamines that aid for that particular ailment. Your allergy meds contain different antihistamines for different ailments also. Each drug reacting to a particular virus or bacteria in our body. The contents labeled into one of your meds may contain higher percentages of antihistamines than your usual allergy meds which is why the allergies subside. However, these may cause side effects on you if used in long term as anti allergy meds do have effects on our bones. It prolongs bone re- structuring and may sometimes cause bone brittleness. So be very careful on taking them for long periods of time.

To a certain extent I know what you mean as I take what seems to be dozens of pill per day and at time I wonder if they are counter productive to one another (it is something I intend to ddiscusswith my Doc, but I fear it will take a full aanalysefrom a person trained in the interaction of all of the pill to truly work out which are working well together, and that may need to be done at a UUniversityHospital, not from your Doctor or Chemist shop. The Doctors do their best, but are tied by following the big companies rules about dosages so they can't get sued. All I can suggest to you is to ask your doc to go over eeverythingyou are taking both self prescribed and what she pprescribesand see if thete can be a new programme for you. I sympathise with you, and take it from someone who can't even get the butt of the ssh air
