Can I suddenly be allergic to my eyeliner?

Is it possible to be allergic to only one color of eyeliner?

  • I've been using Prestige eyeliner for years now, and I've never had any problems with it. I would always buy the same color blue every time, but recently I bought purple to try something new. Every time I wear the purple, my eyes get very red (looks kind of like pink eye, but not goopy). However, when I wear the blue eyeliner, I don't have any problems. Yesterday, I went out and bought a different brand of purple eyeliner- I got Almay this time. I wore it last night, and this morning woke up with red eyes. Is it possible to just be allergic to purple eyeliner?

  • Answer:

Definitely - you could be allergic to one of the dyes used in the purple mascaras or it might have a perfume or preservative that you're allergic to. Try to find a mascara that's hypoallergenic and doesn't have perfumes or preservatives. yh possibly because different colours have different ingredients in them such as a dye.

Yes, or I'd say it's really likely. Different ingredients go into different coloured make-up, and while they are all fairly similar, you could be allergic to a mineral or metal in the purple eyeliner that you aren't allergic to in the blue. Put some cucumbers or cold spoons on your eyes to take the edge off, and don't wear the purple again. Try a green or something. I hope this helps =)

Yep. Theres probably something in the purple giving you a reaction. If i was you i would try a couple more different brands that make purple eye liner and if they give you a reaction aswell then, use a different colour like green? best of luck hope you find a different brand of purple eye liner that doesnt give you a reaction :)

It may be something in the color, I wouldn't use those purple ones again. You don't want to have problems with your eyes. If you really want, you may want to get something that is hypoallergenic and try that. Or talk to someone at a cosmetic counter, they may know something.

Yes, different shades require different pigment. You may be allergic to this pigment or a preservative the company puts in the product

It is possible to be allergic to something in both purple eyeliners. Perhaps a red dye?

Erin

Carlygirl

it may be something in the purple dye... I've never heard of that before, but it must be something... Call a Dr and ask.
