How long does Hay fever Last!?

  • I think what I have might be a case of hay fever! I had it a few times when I was little usually during the winter but I never had it in my late teens or early 20's! My question is how long does hay fever last, and is it possible for it not to occur every year! Please only answers from people with personal experience or qualified individuals!

    It really depends upon what you are having an allergic reaction to. If it's environmental--dust mites, pollen, pet dander etc. your symptoms will continue until the environment is clear of that particular allergen. With pollen, that could be seasonal. With dust mites or pet dander, that could be year round. It is not uncommon lose allergies and develop other allergies later in life. I never had allergies as a child and am now off the charts pollen wise in the spring. If your symptoms are severe and causing problems for you, I would consider allergy testing to see what you are reacting to and to find out how to treat it.

In my experience hay fever lasts until you 1) lose the allergy, not sure how that's done except for 2 and 3. 2) No longer have a vitamin deficiency anymore in A, D, or zinc. 3) Move somewhere the allergen is not. Totally possible for it not to occur every year.

it could also be a food that you are eating.....investigate the type of pollen you are allergic to and then find the foods (fruits/vegs) that are related! good luck....you could also try the "cold sock treatment"
