I think I have a deviated septum, nose job?
-
Okay, I'm 14 and I have had breathing problems for as long as I can remember with my nose. When I was 5 I got my tonsils or atnoids removed. (I dont remember which one..) And I can never blow my nose! Like no matter how hard I try, nothing comes out! I can't remember the last time my nose has been clear.. My mom thinks I have a deviated septum. I do have allergies to cats but I am never around cats. None of my friends have cats. I want to get a nose job in case I do have a deviated septum.. Do you think I have one? This causes me to snore and I feel self conscious about spending the night at people houses. I also want a nose job for cosmetic reasons too, my nose had always been very boulby and round at the end, it's like opposite of a ski jump nose. Haha. If I do get surgery for a deviated septum will they allow me to get it for cosmetic reasons too? Or not because I'm so young? If I don't have a deviated septum my mother said she will take me to get a nose job when I'm 16, if I still want one because she wants me to be happy with myself. But I want it done sooner if it's going to help my breathing issues cause this really bothers me. Sorry this was so long! Any help is appreciated! Thank you!(:

Answer:
Nose jobs and diverted septum repairs are done by two different kinds of doctors. A deviated septum would be fixed by an ENT (ear nose throat doc) and a nose job would be one by a plastic surgeon. So no, they couldn't be done at the same time.

Try non surgical alternatives first because they also work. 2 months ago I was about to undergo surgery until I found out about a swiss product called Nasofix and it really does work, my problem is my asymmetrical bridge and droopy nose. It got fixed in 1 month. Just google "nasofix" to check for reviews and what it can do.

It is possible but not certain that you have a deviated septum. I have had the operation for this and it did help with my symptoms which are similar to yours. The operation did not change my appearance at all so do not get confused between a septum job and a nose job, which is designed to change the way you look. There are other things you could do to assist in your breathing difficulties, irrespective of whether you have the operation. Many nasal sprays are very effective. I use one called Beconase. Also, try the Buteyko breathing method which can help a lot thru teaching you to breath less and so clear the airways. This is usually used for asthma but it can also help people like us. I does for me.
