Adult onset shellfish allergies to shrimp, crablegs, lobster, etc. I can eat squid. Are Clams safe?
-
I know there are lots of classifications for shellfish allergies. I can eat squid/ calamari with no issues. However, if I eat shrimp or lobster my lips/ throat swell up and get tingly. I haven't tried Oysters or Clams since my adult onset shellfish allergies. Are they safe if I can safely eat squid? Anyone know about this stuff?

Answer:
No. Oysters and clams are both shellfish. Be aware that your allergy may get worse. You may want to see your doctor to be evaluated for the need of an epi-pen.
