Has anyone had an allergic reaction to stevia?

Has anyone ever had an allergic reaction from maintaining acrylic nails?

• I have had acrylic nails for at least 12 years. Two days ago, when I had the nails maintained ( better known as "fills") within 1 hour the surrounding area around each nail became bright red, extremely itchy, and slightly swollen. The next morning , I soaked the nails off and went back to the salon to show him. He said I apparently had an allergic reaction to the gel or something else he used. He said, in his experience he only had 1 or 2 clients experience the same reaction. My problem is: why all of a sudden? He claims he didnot change any products. I am still in pain : put some bacitracin on each nail...but boy does it hurt!!! Anyone ever experience this problem?

  Ow! Allergies are one of those things that has very little rhyme and reason. Is there a chance that the manufacturers of your manicurist's products changed something, by any chance? I've not had any such problems (fortunately). But then, my family does have a history of problems with petroleum-based products, so I'm not the one to try to experiment further with this. Feel better!
