Am I allergic to deodorant?

Ugh, allergic to deodorant. any suggestions?

  • i am allergic to deodorant (the aluminum) and can't use most brands without breaking out and being super uncomfortable and then my armpits just sweat more trying to get the stuff off. i use anti-bacterial soap when i shower but in the summer months this is not enough (i'm Italian, my mother says i am just cursed). usually i just don't worry about being a little smelly (i know who my real friends are and my fiance doesn't care, we're pretty crusty) but i don't want to offend the little old ladies at church (really that's the only time i worry about it). note: I have tried Tom's of Maine and it didn't work. EVERYONE suggests that but ... maybe mom's right and i am just meant to be stinky.

    Buy a salt crystal deodorant. It kills bacteria causing the odor and it's made of salt. It wont irritate your skin, it's completely natural.

You will probably have to go to your dermatologist and get a prescription deodorant, also if you sweat a lot they will probably give you one formulated for people with hyperhydrois (excessive sweating) It is a liquid that you put on at night, it only works when you use it at night because that is when your sweat glands are not in action. It does not have any aluminum in it, probably still burn though just because it is so strong. But once you use it a couple times, you will only need it twice a week, and you will have no more problems with sweat and odor. Mine is called Hypercare solution. But your dermatologist might recommend something else. Also you are not cursed because you are Italian. I am Scottish and have the same problem, along with thousands of other people. Good luck!

Are you allergic to the spray too? If you are then I guess take showers very often/ use bar soap. Im sorry if this is no help :/

Have you tried the dove deodorant? It is suitable for all ages! And not allergic to many people!! You try using that one!

Try dabbing cotton with witch hazel and rubbing that in armpits. I heard it's supposed to be a natural deodorant. It costs a few bucks from just about any store.

well if you are having a problem with the stick type of deodortant.. try the spray on kind..maybe some of the ingrediants in there are causing you to break out. maybve try an unscented and sensitive skin type of dedorant like Dove? or go see ur doctor. im SURE there is a brand out there that wont cause you to break out

Lots of people are trying to avoid aluminum because they believe it causes other health problems so there are products out there. Good luck finding one that works for you!
