How do i get motivated to exercise?

How can I get motivated to exercise when I can't do anything? Read more plz?

  • I can barely get past my knees when I try to stretch. I cannot run without having a full blown asthma attack. I am not too fat. I am only 25 lbs overweight according to my doctor but I am so exhausted and out of shape. I work a lot and have a baby and no time to do anything. I am stressed out. I am 5 ft 4 in and 160 lbs. I would like to lose 40 though and be 120 lbs. So what are some exercises that even someone as out of shape as me can do without killing themselves and dying of an asthma attack? And how can I motivate myself into thinking yes I can do this instead of giving up?

  • Answer:

If I were you I would start by taking a walk with the baby..If its cold..try walking on a treadmill. You can buy some videos Like Denise Austins..I like her stuff..and its not too hard for a beginner..and she keeps you motivated.. Theres a drink out called Fuze, have you saw it? Theres one that's called Slenderize..Tropical Fruit is my favorite. Ive switched to drinking that instead of soda..and it has natural energy boosters and metabolism helpers.

Water aroebics is good for people in your situation. Many YMCA's have indoor pools that have water aerobic classes. You may even be able to find one that has a daycare service for the members that are working out.

i do sit-ups and stuff, which will be no good. The only exercise i do, that might suit you is: lie on your right side, holding your head up with your right hand. Lift your left leg up, towards the ceiling. Do this either holding your leg up for about 10 seconds, or 2 seconds ten times. Then swap. this is good for Bum and legs and you can do that while you watch TV/have five minutes or throughout the day

Try lifting some light weights. Building muscle will actually help you lose weight better than many other exercises will, and this can be done on your own, in your home, if you choose. Check out a book at the library called 'Strong Women Stay Young', it is about preventing osteoporosis by lifting very light weights (starting at 1 lb for little old ladies), but explains how the great side effect was that people who needed to, lost 10 to 15 lbs. Think of exercise this way - do you want to live long enough to attend your grandchildren's wedding? Do you want to be able to walk to the seat at the wedding without assistance? Then think of exercise as a gift you are giving to the person who will be living in your body in 10 years, in 20 years, 30 years, 40 years.

sign up for a yoga class. this will not only make you more flexible, but the breathing exercises will help your lung capacity. as a new mom you will also benefit from the stress relief of yoga. check out a YMCA membership, so you can swim in their pool. why run when you can walk? walking is free, and easier on the joints and your lungs. as long as it is not a bad air quality day, you shouldn't have as many asthma problems. start small with just a few blocks and work your way up to a couple of miles. since you are a new mom, push that stroller for added resistance exercise. your baby will enjoy the walks too! you are not going to drop weight overnight - it took a while for you to gain that 40 pounds (at least 9 months, that's how long it took me to gain my 70 extra pounds - but thanks to yoga & walking, i'm now only 20 lbs heavier than i was before i got pregnant) and its going to take at least as long to lose it. watch your calories. reduce or remove white processed sugar and flour from your diet. eat more fiber, drink more water - the real secret to weight loss & healthy eating habits. motivation: look at that baby everytime you feel like giving up: doing your best to care for yourself so that you are healthy enough to care for your baby and around for a long time to watch them grow should be your #1 priority now. and lastly, don't use asthma as an excuse. my cousin has had severe asthma since he was a kid, is an avid outdoorsman, lifts weights, played football in high school & college, chases 3 adorable daughters around their farm... if he can do it, so can you.

i'm about 40 lbs over weight and i just started getting into my pool at my apartment complex for about 10 or 15 minutes a morning (really early so no one sees my back fat) i haven't been doing laps or anything like that, just moving around and swimming a little. i haven't weighed myself yet, but i can already tell that i have more energy in the afternoon and don't feel like a nap all the time. good luck...

Start small and easy. First walk around the block everyday, then 2 blocks the second week, then 3. Then, restart again, but this time speed walk. Then jog, then run. Go to the gym and exercise daily. The sauna is the best place to be after workout. 1 hour in the sauna makes you loose 1/2 pound. So you could loose 3.5 pounds in a week by being in the sauna. For motivation, buy a black board. Flip through magazines and look for the females' body that you would like to look like and stick it to your black board. Plan out your diet and stick that to your board. Plan out your exercise and stick it to your board. Put a picture of yourself now to the board next to everything else. Place the board on the inside of your bedroom door, so you will can see it everyday before you leave your room.
