Why are so many people lactose intolerant?

Probably because we are not cows, so we're really not suppose to drink cow's milk. I'm lactose intolerant, so I drink soy milk instead. =)

Because species aren't meant to drink the milk of other species. Human babies are supposed to drink human milk. Cow babies are supposed to drink cow milk. It shouldn't be mixed. Get your calcium from other sources.

mostly all black folks are lactose intolerant sumthin like 75% i think my whole family is !

That is like asking why some people like hamburger and others chicken...just one of those things...no control over it.

I think there were always people who could not properly digest milk, we just know now the reason why, before that people just didn't think they liked it (such as - it doesn't agree with me)

Because cow's milk is meant for cow babies. Expect trouble when you are not a cow or no longer a baby.

I agree. Humans are not baby cows so it makes perfect sense that they reject something that is not for them. Because I am a product of American culututre and I've let myself adhere to this part of the culture, I am accustomed to milk and foods that are generally eaten with milk. Therefore, I now drink soy. There are other ways, good ways, to get calcium-- soy, broccoli, spinach... I've included a couple of links, but you'll find good to excellent results by doing a search, "vegan calcium sources".
