Has your watch ever steamed up or got condensation inside?

Trying to watch what I eat...what are some tricks for eating at work?

  • So i have been trying to watch what I eat a little more than usual to try and shed a few pounds. I work in a casino, and I have to commute for over an hour each way. I sometimes work 10+ hour days, and this makes my work day close to 13 hours sometimes. I cannot go that long without eating (and from what I hear, that isnt good either). In the dining room, there are often many options (similar to what is served in the buffet, but without all the more expensive items, ie crab legs etc). Salad is always available. Sandwiches, soup, chicken (sometimes baked, sometimes grilled), mashes potatos some for of veggies, from steamed broccoli, carrots, cauliflower, green beans. There are burgers and hot dogs, which I dont like so I never touch, rolls muffins, cake, etc. and often random stuff like alfredo, shimp pesto pasta, egg rolls baked potatos etc. I am having a hard time deciding what are the right choice to make when given so many options. Today for example, I opted for a salad with romain instead of iceberg, I topped it with a piece of the grilled chicken breast, sliced up, onions, broccoli, cucumber, a hard boiled egg, and some ranch, I also had a small bowl of clam chowder. It was an actual bowl sized bowl, but I only filled it maybe half way. I did have ranch on the salad, but they only offer 3 dressings, and it is the only one i like (they also have french, and bleu cheese). I thought this was a good choice, but then I got to thinking that maybe to soup wasnt so good, etc. I usually eat a little more than that, but trying to keep a very close eye on it. I also have a hard time eating breakfast. I just dont like doing the fast food thing, and usually dont have time to make anything before leaving for work. Are there any quick healthy options that i havent stumbled upon (and I dont really like nutrigrain bars or things like that). Any other advise would be greatly appreciated!

  • Answer:

Salads and baked chicken are a good choice for a lunch. My husband I run a fast food Mexican restaurant so I also struggle with what to munch on at work. Because I work during the day, I have to eat breakfast and lunch there. I started bringing high fiber cereal to work for my breakfast. I have about a cup of cereal with some non fat milk in the morning and try to have a banana or another piece of fruit with it. This keeps me very full until lunch. And better yet, forcing myself to eat in the morning seems to set my appetite up for the day. I used to skip breakfast and I found myself gorging down on lunch and dinner. For lunch I eat a salad but because we only have ranch, I have started keeping low calorie dressing at work. I try to keep carrots and other veggies to munch on in between if I feel like snacking. The biggest thing I have incorporated in my daily schedule is exercise! I joined a gym and try to do at least a 45 minute work out 4 times a week. I have lost around 18 pounds in the last 3 months just simply changing up my diet and exercise and I feel much better! My breathing has gotten better and I feel like I have a ton more energy. Also remember to get plenty of sleep each night. Depriving your sleep time also makes you feel sluggish which tricks your body into thinking you're hungry. Good luck!

Stay away from the fast-food kinda food, eat steamed vegetables salad and a piece of chicken and sometimes beef or pork, and soup is good with some croutons.
