Who has had "burning foot syndrome?

Diet for people with Chronic Fatigue Syndrome or M.E?

  • I had been feeling unwell on and off from the age of 15. The doctor said it was due to IBS being a young mom and being overweight. I only started to put weight on at the age of 16 when I started to feel extreme fatigue, lack of enthusiasm and motivation. I also found that I started to comfort eat to help boost my low moods. Before this age I was very slim and very active. I tried very hard to loose weight and managed to succeed and I kept on fighting the feelings of ill health I had. During my third pregnancy I became extremely unwell and piled on the weight I was 17 and half stone by the end of my pregnancy, although exhausted after I had given birth I got right back onto dieting and managed to get down to 12 stone, but the fatigue and muscle pans, headaches etc were so intense I was just miserable. The doctors still had no help to offer me. Two years ago at the age of 25 I went into casualty with a severe build up of pain in my right foot, within an hour of being in the hospital I had lost nearly all the use of the right side of my body and was suffering from an intense burning pressure throughout my arm and leg. The doctors felt had , had a minor stroke and they felt I had Multiple Sclerosis after reviewing my medical past. After an MRI though they found no sign of MS, so they diagnosed me with Chronic Fatigue Syndrome. I was so frustrated because I myself did not recognise it as being a genuine illness and was embarrassed to think this was the cause of my problems but two years on I know how real this problem is and as much as I try to push through and prove I dont have this illness my body just wont let me, there has been improvements but I still struggle greatly. One of my main issues is my weight I am now 13 and a half stone and although my husband loves me the way I am I really do want to loose weight. I find that I still comfort eat and du to sever dips in my energy levels which cause my to have dizzy spells and body weakness I tend to grab food that will try and improve the way I am feeling. I also try to exercise but I am still a mom of three young children and find that my body just struggles to cope with exercise and the other daily chores I need to do. I need to find a diet which is suitable for someone with my health problem and I have tried many which just dont. I know that some with CFS/ME have been advised to cut out a lot of things from their diet or to take exta vitamins etc. I just need to be pointed in the right direction, I need to get slimmer and I my diet wil have to be the main thing that helps that weigthloss due to my lack of energy, any sugguestions welcomed.

Hi I have suffered from ME on and off for nearly 10 years. To recover from the first 4 year bout and subsequent relapses I found that diet and rest are key. It's really important to listen to your body and rest if you need to, not easy with 3 kids but do you have anyone that can help you out? The 1st time I was ill followed a really strict diet, but ended up slimme, looking & feeling great. I avoided wheat, dairy, alcohol, sugar and yeast - but ate lots of vegetables, fish, eggs, chicken, rice, oats etc. Wheat etc can be difficult for our bodies to digest, if you're already tired you need to make life easier for your body to get the nutrients it needs. I listened to my body and if I felt okay I would go a short walk, gradually increasing the distance as I felt better. On bad days I would do nothing at all. Since I have had relapses I have been to see a nutritionist, who has advocate similar to the above and in addition has given me various supplements (apparently the vitamins that you can buy in Boots etc aren't really sufficient to make an impact if you're below average health and I have noticed a difference since I've switched, so perhaps not just sales patter :-)) So I now do the following Take pro biotic, multivit and fish oil every morning with breakfast have protein at every meal eat lots of veg eat wholegrain foods avoid sugar, yeast and dairy avoid or at least be sensible with alcohol, and if do indulge steer clear of beers/ lagers/ sugary drinks Good luck!

I had CFS went on raw vegan diet for a few weeks and it went away and hasn't come back. It's also highly recommended for MS and weight loss and depression. It could really help you. Plenty of info and recipes on the 'net, just google away. There are book too on Amazon, try Rose Lee Calabro's book, lots of good starter recipes there. Having a food processor or a good blender is really helpful.

Rest is the answer. Get at least 8 to 9 hours of sleep per day, night time is batter but not possible then do not worry. Take one a day multivitamin for over 50(over the counter) or for pregnant female(need a proscription, from gynaecologist) These two have few more things that boots the energy levels. ***************** Math is simple. Eat 3500 calories less then you burn and loose a approximately a pound of weight. 1). You burn between 65 to 100 calories per hour, when you are just sleeping and while watching TV or just relaxing and awake you burn about 65 to 85 collieries per hour. Body senses the opportunity to take advantage of sleep to do maintenance work and that accounts for extra calorie burn. 2). Must eat minimum calories list on the site bellow, or you WILl lower your metabolism rate by about 20 to 30 calories per hour, that is about 480 to 720 calories per day, must include all the foods. Go for 1 gallon of water and do not waste your money on "Slim Fast protein drinks". Eat well balance small 6 meals. If you do not eat enough then you cannot exercise enough so you wil feel sick and weak and can even gain fat at the expense of loss of mussels tissue. Here is more info, extracted from my previous answers to similar Q? Read it and use what applies to you. *************** You can do it very easily. The figure are statistically correct (average for your category)but you are an individual so it may be little off in your case. ***************** You can eat any thing and every thing, but must watch total calories in take per day, add up for the week and adjust the intake to compensate as needed next week, this way once in a while you can even pig out at a party. Never deprive yourself but if need be postpone the cravings. Eat at least calories listed on the link on most days. Keep good written record of both the calories intake and calories burn. Find some abdominal exercises and just do it , include side bends too and total body work out, to build hour glass shaped good firm fit strong body. To loose or gain you need to eat right. Not eating carbohydrates is wrong you must consume all food groups. Little unsaturated fat is a must and some complex carbohydrate and fruits should be included too, eat lots of vegetable and rest of the calories should be in proteins. Avoiding buns and cake is Ok but must not be excluded, if you exclude any items then the craving will take over all of a sudden and it can be really bed and throw you off the diet without even knowing what happened. You may be slightly over or under weight, but if you are under 30 years of age then you can still grow taller, by doing: 1). Pull ups. 2). Bicycling. 3).Swimming. 4.)Stretching. You do need to find time to do body parts specific exercises paying attention to side bends and abdominal routine. You can find them on the Internet. If you do not exercise then you will gain it in odd places and will be very unhealthy for you. The best way is to eat right and exercise, loose it very slowly a pound per week but 1/2 pound will be even batter, loose it slow and keep it for ever loose it fast and gain it all back plush a few pounds. haste is waste and it just shows up on your waist latter. Hint: You need to use the weight if you like to bulk up for competition, or just to show off. For toning you must not use weights or only very light weights.
