How to Train for a Half Marathon?

  • Right now I'm doing 1 h cardio (5 d/ w)- Elliptical & muscle training (2d/w) . Should I also change something about my diet ? Maybe more protein and no more wheat ? I don't eat fast food ,no meat & no fish. The (half )marathon starts in around 6 month. Any advice would be appreciated .

    Are you running at all? My advice is to get off the elliptical trainer and onto the street. The good news is that if you're in good enough shape to be doing that much cardio, you only need about four months to train, even if you're not running at all right now. I've done three half marathons and I usually only spend about 15 or 16 weeks training for them. Some people spend far less time than that. I basically make up my only schedule and mixture of cross-training workouts based on the ones I've seen published places like Runner's World and Jeff Galloway's site.
