Can we eat raw pumpkin seeds?
-
From a TV show, I've heard of eating pumpkin seeds is good for our health, and it's especially beneficial to men. But the show only introduced dry and treated seeds which are sold in packets, maybe available in supermarkets, I guess. First of all, is eating pumpkin seeds healthy? Or is it just do no harm, or is even harmful to humans? Secondly, can we can eat the seeds taken out from a freshly cut pumpkin? Seeds of which kind(s) of pumpkin should we eat or not eat? Any ways to treat and make raw pumpkin seeds "eatable" if the raw ones are not good? Thanks for answering.

Answer:
All pumkin seeds that I know of are ok for eating but it's better to eat the ones that come from large pumkins (ie. not the mini decorative ones). You can eat them raw & whole but honestly they don't taste good like that. They are slimy fresh out of the pumpkin. As the other users answered, the best way to prepare fresh pumkin seeds is to dry them by setting them out in the sun or roasting them in the oven. They are particularly tasty when roasted with salt, which is pretty much how they are sold in the supermarket. Some prople do hull them (remove the shell) before eating but leaving the shell on is not harmful. I have never tried it but I'm sure that you could dry them and then grind them up to be added to other foods if you are that set on adding them to your regular diet. Chomp & enjoy!

Hi! Pumpkin seeds are not harmful to humans. In India it is used to make a lot of sweets and savouries. It is also very tasty. The skin of the pumpkin seed is not eaten so it has to be first skined. Seeds from freshly cut pumpkin can be eaten but it is hard if not impossible to skin them properly. It is advisible first to dry it preperably in the sun for a day or two. Like any other edible seeds it is also nutritious. I am not sure as to which kinds of pumpkin seeds are edible. In my opinion if you can eat the pumpkin you can eat its seeds.

Yeah you can but they taste horrible and are not really good for you if you are desperate to try then ask someone in the supermarket. but really I think they are a waste of time!
