How do i stop/prevent my gum from overlapping my teeth?

  • Ok. I have braces and my first four teeth s gums aren't overlapping my teeth on top or bottom. how do i prevent and get my gum back to how its supposed to be?

  • Answer:

If you are not brushing properly, or flossing this can happen. Most likely your gums are getting red, swollen, and puffy. You have to remember that your braces are preventing your tooth brush from touching your gums. So make sure when you brush, that you put your brush above/under your bracketts so it gets your gums and cleans them as well. Also flossing is very important. lack of it will create this problem as well. Buy floss threaders to make the process easier. Your gums will most likely get sore from doing this, but it will eventully get better each day. They should start to get back to normal after a few days. Also a mouth wash would help to get teh bacteria out from under the gums as well.

I'm not really sure what your asking but if you are saying its receding you might want to see a dentist because you could have gingivitis. Its important because if you do you should know that it wont come back. Just in case :D

Brushing properly. You might be leaving plague in between your brackets and your gum line and its causing your gums to puff up. If they bleed when you brush that means you have a gum infection.
