Do you really need to remove your wisdom teeth?
-
Well I was at the dentist today and he told me I'm going to need wisdom teeth surgery soon. Do I really need to though, What's the worst that can happen if I don't?

Answer:
Not all the time. It depends on the case of the patient. I have seen some patients who lost their first premolars and their wisdom teeth erupted normally into the mouth. Other I have seen the patient had their complete dentition in their mouth but they had a big jaw, thus a lot of space for the wisdom teeth to erupt. Often times though, the wisdom teeth were impacted or partially erupted and had to be removed. If your Dentist said it needs to be removed, its most probably is impacted. Now if its impacted, it must be removed. Impacted teeth can push your other teeth out of alignment, damage your 2nd molars, give you extreme pain, cause pericoronitis (infection of the gum partly covering the impacted tooth), cause headaches and earaches, etc. When you experience any of those, the only way to relieve any of the symptoms is to have it surgically removed. So you might as well, save yourself the extreme pain and discomfort and get them removed.

if the dentist said it, you'll need it to keep your teeth from getting pushed together. I never got mine taken out, but mine came in a lot straighter than most people. get a second opinion though if it bothers you that much. many dentists get paid for referring surgeries to other dentists

You will be in extreme pain eventually if you don't. And you'll still have to get them removed. Take advantage of it now and get out of school/work for awhile.

my mom works in an oral surgeons office, she sees this like everyday. yes.. u willl be in extreme pain if u don.t also, since they r so far back.. it will be hard to brush and that will end up in gum infections. some ppl dont have to get theirs removed because their mouth is karge enuf to keep them, but they prolly should get them removed too. i reccomend that u do. :))

I just got mine taken out. They don't always have to be taken out. But, that is only if you have enough room in your mouth. I have braces and have major crowding on the bottom row of my teeth. If i would have let them stay, the crowding would have gotten worse and one of the wisdom teeth on top would have been shoved up into my sinus cavity and I would have need further surgery. So...sometimes yes. Sometimes no.

it's a dentists' con they make a lot of money out of unnecessary dental surgery, get two or three opinions first at least one from an honest dentist if you can find one, peoples teeth are generally so much better than they used to be that dentists are struggling to find things to do, most small cavities do not need filling and any filling will do more damage to the teeth in five minutes than decay will do in years, like law and medical schools , dental schools are churning out thousands of unnecessary dentists every year, which is making earning a living more difficult

if your mouth can fit your wisdom teeth then there is no reason to remove them. most people have them removed because they dont need another molar, and most mouths are too small to fit the wisdom teeth in properly, which results in all their teeth being forced forward, and makes your teeth crooked.

not everyone needs to, my grandparents still have theirs and no problems, you only have to if your jaw is to small or they are growing crooked, if they are straight and you have room just remember to clean them they are often forgotten! remember they make lots of money off you removing them so they will tell you that you should

Long term, yes! If you don't anything about it, it'll make it hard to eat anything @ all, & it'll help U ruin your jawline as well.
