Do crest whitestrips really work? And which ones are more effective?

I have yellow teeth and I'm not sure who I don't drink coffee or tea all the time, and I brush my teeth twice a day but no difference. I'm guessing maybe it's natural, but its not too yellow but its definitely not white. Right now I can't afford to get my teeth whiten professionally, and I heard whitestrips are more cheaper and effective. Is that true, and do you think it will get rid of the yellow on my teeth?
