Do I have an infected tooth?

Infected tooth = infected brain?!?

  • i have a rotted tooth being pulled tomorrow and i was really worried about pain so i did some research and found out thats theres a disease you could get from your rotted tooth im not sure what its called but that doesnt matter it said that if you have a infected tooth it could go into your jaw or brain and get it infected also! i looked up the side affects which i have! (bleeding, swelling in the gums, pain, sleeplessness(?) nausea, and lots of others! ) its say its 80% fatal and im really scared.. i dont wanna die :( i didnt think it was a big deal having a rotten tooth but what if i have a rotting brain now? :[ Please help im so scared that i cant wait to go to the dentists (thats pretty scared if i have a fear of dentists)

  • Answer:

Calm down! You don't have a brain infection. If your brain was rotting, you wouldn't be able to phrase your question so well, or type with any accuracy. You would be in a dazed fog, if not outright comatose. Your tooth is being extracted tomorrow - that means your infection is going to leave your mouth, and your body. If your dentist feels that it is at all a danger, he'll give you antibiotics. But just the fact of having the SOURCE of the infection removed will most likely cure your problem, with no meds needed. You're going to be FINE........Really. Relax!

If you had a brain infection you'd barely be conscious. You're fine but it can happen and is best to get that tooth pulled ASAP.
