Does it hurt getting braces removed?

I would say it is more uncomfortable than painful. Just try to focus on something else while you are getting them off, like when I had mine removed I brought my Ipod.

i had 4 of mine removed for about 10 minutes and it doesnt really hurt the way my orthadontist did it. its just really awkward and uncomfortable. the way my orthadontist did it was he breaks the brackets off, which didnt hurt. but then he would use a drill to chisel the cement off, this was annoying because its really loud. good luck!

i get mine off tomorrow but when your ortho said that u were going to get them off did he do an impression before then for your retainer like in october or whatever. because im supposed to get mine off tomorrow like i said and i have no clue if they're really going to do it or not!! so please answer me asappp.

noooo! Depends on how yr ortho treats you. When they take the brackets off it doesn't hurt butttt when they polish yr teeth it sorta hurts. Not like hurt hurt though more like sensitivity because it feels cold and don't be afraid of the noise because it is pretty loud. If yr still a little nervous bring yr iPod to take yr mind off of it! for me it did not hurt at all! my sister got hers taken off (but had to get them put back on) and she told me it was painless. it will hurt for a few days-like it was when you got your braces on- but don't worry about the pain, i didn't feel anything. but you have to wear your retainer all the time? doesn't your orthodontist trust you to wear it? well good luck anyways

i thought it hurt at times but that might just be me. first they pop off the braces part and then they scrape your teeth with a scraping tool thing to get the glue off. i thought the scraping part hurt because it took them like forever on some teeth. good luck! i bet it wont be too bad!!

Ive had to get one of my brackets tooken off then back on and with my ortho, it felt like they were about to chip my tooth off! It hurted a lil when they were taken one off but after they did it didnt hurt after that.

my docter died and i moved 2 a new town. i took miine off with plyers. PLYERS if that how u spell it lol. but no you'll feel tuggin but it will be a LITTLE osar not alot for a day and thats it. congradulations u got them off im sure u have a nice smile! =D

No they take the wire of first then just pull the brackets then scrape the glue and they just polish your teeth then your done hopefull this helps nothing to worry about
