Can I still get braces after having had a root canal?

Can i still get braces when having root canal done?

  • One of my front tooth has cavity, so i have filling for it but now it hurts. the dentist say that if it hurts again, i will need to have root canal done. so i'm thinking i might have root canal done but im about to have braces. can i still have braces when having root canal done? Do i need a crown for that tooth in order to have braces?

  • Answer:

Easiest way would be to have the root canal done before the braces. Then get the crown for that tooth. It depends on the tooth, because if the crown placement interferes with the braces brackets, than you will have to have the braces wire removed. You do not NEED a crown for that tooth for braces, but if you do have the root canal procedure done, than you will need a root canal.
