What is it called when ur gums recede and expose the top part of your tooth which is normally coverd and suppo
-
and supported. and how much does a dentist normally charge for that

Answer:
I think the term you're looking for might be gingival recession... since it's only one tooth, there really isn't anything you can do for it. Also, switch to a soft-bristled toothbrush to avoid any further recession.... and don't brush as hard.

gum disease....what has happened is that the bone which is normally around your teeth has been eaten away by bacterial plaque...dentists have procedures that they say might help, but your condition sounds pretty advanced. It's costly, but they will argue "what is more important, your cash, or your teeth?"....even thought there are no guarantees. good luck

they will possibly have to do a deep scraping of the tooth under the gums to get rid of the plaque

Sounds like it could be gingivitis..peridontal (sp.?)disease..receding gumline. Mine required surgery to repair. The surgery consists of dental surgeon cutting the gumline open and cleaning the entire tooth (including the root), pulling gum back up to place it is supposed to be, stitching gum back together and applying a protective substance over the teeth and gum to allow for healing. I know this sounds awful but the whole procedure and healing was not bad at all--actually had very little pain. I had both top and bottom done, few weeks apart and returned to work the next day. Gingivitis, peridontal disease, receding gumline normally affects most of the teeth not just 1 tooth. Had medical assistance at that time that covered the cost of the procedure, so don't know the cost,..but am sure it is probably quite expensive nowadays.(mine was done 15 years ago).

gingivitis or gum disease. You may need to see a peridontist. This could be very expensive dependent upon what will need to be done.
ANA
I believe it is called paradontal disease.

Advanced Periodontal disease. Treatment is ongoing, and varies by your area. Treatment is usually partially covered by your dental insurer. If left untreated, it can get really bad and painful. See a dentist and start your treatment plan so that it does not get worse. The earlier you get treatment for it, the better. Good luck!
